Daily Deviation

Given 2008-04-17
"The Wrath Of Veruca" by *davidmacdowell pays tribute to both a great piece of artwork AND a fantastic movie with the stroke of a brush! It is delightful and just as quirky as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory while still an interesting, and amusing, reworking of the classic French piece, The Raft of Medusa. The artist's skill does not need to be pointed out as the piece speaks volumes, so check it out and most importantly, enjoy! ( Suggested by *laerry and Featured by $aunjuli )

was your aim to show the will to survive of the characters of the Willy Wonka story just like Gericault's raft of the medusa portrays?

I think I just always loved the Gericault piece and thought that i'd never be able to tackle such a busy piece so it was done mainly as a challenge.:)

Oh wow -I didnt know that about the raft! The piece is so brilliant in detail I guess it makes sense though for reference reasons==Its just so technically brilliant in an old masters/renassance way that I always thought that it was alot older than it is..Id like to do another one someday with a different cast of characters, maybe something silly like the brady bunch;)

LOL wow, i would never think of the brady bunch to us as another set of characters, shows how creative i am LOL i wold have used something like futurerama the cartoon that shows once in a while on adult swim. LOL but great idea. message me if you can when ever you do that one! i'd love to see it!
