this looks great! definitely one of my favorites of yours! I absolutely love the movement, texture, colors, light, and clarity here! I really cannot say enough about this piece.
and Alice with the violin, sitting in a clear teacup with the cheshire cat!!! brilliant.
Dave, this looks fantastic... everything here is great... the colors, expressions, the composition. I love this. I think I'll choose that the statement here is "how girls/children have tremendous {sometimes imagined}burdens/worries", but I've got to say that the other way of view it (the girl is passed out on drugs) made me smile.
Absolutely wonderful work, Dave! I love the fact that everything is off-kilter except the little girl in the upper, right corner. This really lends itself well to either interpretation (dreaming or drug-induced). I love the cup with the Cheshire cat, the Jesus image and especially the vortex. Great imagery!
You are really talented!

David, you have definitely blown me away with this one! I absolutely love it! It truly portrays the story that you are telling. And the little girl is lovely!
I love the dream imagery. Maybe her dream image of Christ is foreshadowing for the hymn she will have to play at her recital?
Yeah, I thought of that too while thinking of titles..One possible title was "Nearer my god to thee" that violin solo that was at the end of the "titanic"-but I didnt wanna make it a "god" painting..and another title was "I have lost track of the world" a song composed by Gustav Mahler, wich is supposedly the saddest song in the world..My wife suggested "Are You there God, Its Me Alice" a teen book from Judy Blume about menstruation??!I think well stick to the "Go Ask Alice" for now..
Good thinkin'! It's not a god painting and it's not a menstruation painting (I've seen those; they're icky). It is a beautiful painting of a little girl dreaming of the Cheshire Cat and some other stuff! Titles are misleading, anyway. This title is ambiguous enough that it does add to or take away from this painting.. the way it should be.
her face really does have the expression that children have when they worry, and it's such a tragic one. whether or not they need to be, children can be so anxious! they get so worked up over their recitals and schoolwork that they end up in swirling oceans of tea with jesus dying on the cross. man, being a kid sucked. just one big panic attack.
but hey, the whole painting is very beautiful, it's got that warms&cools type of depth going on. awesome!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
