I love how you've taken an American icon and somehow made it more American, Dave. Another MacDowell favorite!

I think the way they are seated looks a little awkward but to hell with that its a good painting. I always love me some Hopper paintings and styles.

Well, well, I know about "Night Hawks"... great irreverent tribute! But even if I am a cinephile I do not recoignize all of these hawks. Molly Ringwald of course, hence the cafe's name, Emilio Estevez, the guy on the right whose name doesn't want to come, but the other two, no idea
Please help me! :aww:

From left to right they are:

Anthony Michael Hall
Molly Ringwald
Ally Sheedy
Emilio Estevez
and Judd Nelson

It's Judd Nelson on the right. The other fellow is Anthony Michael Hall and the other young lady is Ally Sheedy. Collectively they were (once upon a time back in the 80s) known as "The Breakfast Club".

Oh thanks! I went to check and realize "Sixteen Candles" and "BreakfastClub" were not well know in France and how surprised was I to realise A M Hall is the one from "Dead Zone"!

I see you found them on your own - you're right about this being a particularly "American" movie - it neatly divided up American teens into categories only to combine them neatly in the end.

Anthony Michael Hall has changed A LOT since Breakfast Club. I didn't realize he was in the Dead Zone series until I looked it up. Christopher Walken played that part in the original movie. :)

The criss-crossings of multi-hued shadows and reflected light in this are fantastic; Edward Hopper was all it took to ennoble the Brat Pack...
