Thanks so much for the kind words on this piece! I did it for a juried exhibition in early 2007 and it did win 3rd place, but alot of people still dont really take it seriously..Im really glad that ya like it!!!
this is a really excellent piece, really well painted. It's good because people can make their own stories behind it but I would love to know what you meant by this picture. I love the little character you have by the Beatles from their movie Yellow Submarine, it's excellent.
Nice fat Elvis. I assume he is the cabin boy? Great joke with the Yokohontas. Did you start with that and work your way into this concept, or did you start with colonization and work your way towards the Yokohontas pun?
It all was part of the "soup"..It was painted for a Jamestown 400th birthday thing here in Virginia-so I figured make John Smith -John Lennon etc-It went well and I got 3rd place in the juried exhibition..I did it in 4 days to make the deadline- so any empty space you see was painted an hour before I had to drop it off- Good Times..Good Times..
3rd place, thats great! They say you cant force art, but you can fake it if you have to! The fact there was empty "rushed space" on the canvass didn't even register. Apparently, it didn't register for the judges either. Way to slip one past em.
